#1 Angels Love Tragedies by Arlen James

Angels Love Tragedies by Arlen James
In a world where angels purpose and behaviour is questionable, how are humans supposed to trust them and God? From Ancient Greece, Colonial America, to modern urban and post-apocalyptic settings, and even The Underworld, these stories follow different characters in their struggle to reach their final destination after death. Would you be so desperate to live again that you would rob your own grave to get your body back?

Would you listen to the angel that tells you that in order to be forgiven for your sin, you must burn down the demon-infested hotel where you work? Would you walk into the mouth of a giant three-headed snake in hopes of escaping Tartarus and travelling to a brighter future after being tried and executed as a witch? These are just some of the questions even you may have to face in the end.

The book discusses how a boy, Nathaniel Fox, finds himself in the middle of a blood-soaked battlefield. Personally, I recommend the book since it gives many historic ideas that are education-wise.

This book paints a clear picture of how the Brits invaded America in the year 1600 to 1700 in search of a better life. The author further narrates how the Brits worked hard to build their own homes and towns. If you are a fiction-lover then, you cant afford to miss this book.

#4 Somewhere Beyond Manhattan by Terry F. Fields

Somewhere Beyond Manhattan by Terry F. Fields
If you are looking for a historical fiction novel that incorporates accurate historical information with little known facts about early American history, then please investigate Somewhere Beyond Manhattan.

The novel, written by Terry F. Fields, puts an interesting spin on the legendary purchase of Manahatta–the island that we know as Manhattan or today’s New York City, in which the indigenous Leni Lenape Indians were swindled by the Dutch to relinquish their land for $24 in trinkets and beads. Instead, Fields tells a story in which a band of the Lenape were given a hidden parcel on which they could remain, somewhere, hidden in plain sight among the skyscrapers of New York.

Fields intertwines the history of early America, incorporating little known facts about how the Lenape actually assisted in the early formation and colonization of America, giving colonists food and safe haven during the American revolution. The early American history is well researched and covers not only the political aspects but also gives an in depth look at some of the geographical differences of the day as well as the ecosystems including flora and fauna that flourished during those times.

#5 Saving Washington by Chris Formant

Saving Washington by Chris Formant
Saving Washington is a historical fiction piece based on the Battle of Brooklyn from the eyes of the boys on the front lines, also known as the Maryland 400, that delves into what would drive teenagers and citizen soldiers to make the ultimate sacrifice.

The battle was a suicide mission, but pivotal to American history as it allowed George Washington time to escape and ultimately win the war for our freedom. Unfortunately, this extraordinary moment in time is often overlooked.

An evocative tale during the late 1600’s that explores the meaning of freedom, faith & acceptance. Mary,a Puritan woman, who at that time was subordinate to her husband. If she was to question anything, she would get a whipping fro the church. But she gets captured by the local Indians. Now being on the other side, she starts to question the life she had known vs the life that the Indians live. A great novel of historical fiction. Highly recommend.
