This book is non-fiction but it reads like a novel which makes a dry topic like Central Banking interesting enough to keep reading and learn some important history. The big takeaways from this book is that the Central bankers around the world are just regular human beings. They try to make the right decisions, but they are flawed people like everyone else and they make mistakes. Also very interesting in how all the economies are connected. You can see that if you raise or lower rates in the United States, how it has a massive impact around the globe and the various bankers get each other’s opinion before taking action. This book is especially insightful now considering the global financial turmoil we are currently experiencing. I really like this book and recommend it to anyone interested in learning financial history.

The main thing that interested me in this book was its exploration of the history of economics from as early as 400 BC. Having this vast knowledge of how economics actually came about really helped me to understand why certain concepts were in place today, and I now feel like I have a better understanding of the elements of finance and how they all slot in together in our current economic climate!
