Experts Tell Us the Books To Learn Languages

As an experienced Spanish teacher, I’ve read and reviewed tons of books that claim to teach you the language. With the caveat that everyone’s learning style is different, my favorite book to really gain fluency is “Correct Your Spanish Blunders” by Jean Yates. Chock full of common mistakes that English speakers make and how to fix them to be grammatically correct AND sound more natural. This little book is a great asset for those who have begun to learn the language and want to go a little further than standard textbook Spanish. Perfect to study up on before your next job interview where you claimed you were bilingual!

This series of books is available in German, French, Spanish, Mandarin and Italian. Language Hacking German guides you through your very first steps in learning German. The author’s aim is to get you speaking the language from day 1. Each chapter focuses on a different topic, from introducing yourself to talking about family and friends. It then moves on to teaching about past and future tenses. The book also comes with a free MP3 download of all the conversations used in the book. Throughout the book you complete exercises and build your own German scripts to memorise for your first few conversations. A fantastic foundation in German, I highly recommend it.
